Isaac Ruto: NYS was designed to fail

Former Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto has strongly condemned the latest National Youth Service (NYS) corruption scandal saying the system was designed to fail.

According to him, the suspects have perfected the art of covering their tracks when it comes to stealing and that is why no one is yet to be jailed.

“This is the second time that they have stolen from NYS and didn’t leave any footprints. The culprits are still at large,” he said on Tuesday.

Speaking during an interview with Citizen TV, Mr. Ruto asked the government to take the matter seriously and deal with the culprits accordingly.

On Saturday, Principal Secretary Lilian Mbogo Omollo and NYS Director General Richard Ndubai stepped aside to pave way for investigations into the missing Ksh9billion.

Reports indicate that the money has allegedly been siphoned from the institution for the past three years in a scandal involving non-existent suppliers and allegedly some senior government officials.
