Ruto: Didas Appointment Was Flawed

Ruto was particular about the appointment of former presidential candidate Abduba Dida saying the way it was done was unprocedural.

The Deputy President who was speaking during Citizen TV's Cheche programme admitted that the appointment was ill advised.

Ruto added that the appointment of Dida as the CDF Board Chair will be done as per the CDF Act which requires the nomination to be approved by Parliament.

The Deputy President also defended the appointment of the parastatal heads made by the President.

“The President and I have agreed on every appointment made, it was not based on which party one belongs. We were looking for competent Kenyans who can deliver,” Ruto said.

On the controversial multi-billion shilling Standard Gauge Railway Project, the Deputy President denied claims that it was riddled with corruption.

He was responding to claims attributed to Nandi Hills MP Alfred Keter who said the tender awarded to a Chinese firm was not clean.

The Deputy President said that Keter was driving an agenda that did not belong to the coalition and was being pushed by ODM members.

On the vetting of police officers, Ruto said that this was necessary for the country as a whole because Kenya needs a professional and capable work force.

The interview with Ruto was aired in the morning early today.
