Ruto Differs With Barasa Over Extradition Case

In his application, Ruto says he wants to be excluded from Barasa’s row with ICC as he had opted to co-operate with the court to prove his innocence in the ongoing case linked to the 2007 poll chaos.

Ruto who is facing crimes against humanity charges at The Hague asked the court, through his lawyer Katwa Kigen, to hear and determine Barasa’s petition excluding him.

In his case seeking to terminate Kenya’s continued co-operation with ICC, Barasa had roped in President Uhuru Kenyatta, Deputy President William Ruto and Journalist Joshua Sang as he seeks to block the warrant of arrest issued against him by ICC.

Through his lawyer Kibe Mungai, Barasa argued that the warrant raised key issues touching on the country’s sovereignty and legality of the two Kenyan cases being tried before ICC.
