Ruto meets pastors in Karen as campaign for Mariga hots up

DP William Ruto and Jubilee candidate MacDonald Mariga met with church leaders from the Pentecostal Assemblies of God on Tuesday.

A statement from the DP revealed that the meeting in Karen was to solidify the relationship between government and the church.

“The church is an important agent for social and economic transformation. To further this cause, it needs to grow partnerships with the Government in key socio-economic areas such as health, education and livelihood support for maximum development impact to be realised,” DP Ruto said on Twitter.

Pictures released after the meeting showed Mariga at the podium with DP Ruto as one of the church leaders stood reading the Bible.

They later laid hands on the retired footballer as they prayed.

Last Friday, Dr. Ruto also hosted leaders from Kibra constituency at his Karen residence to drum up support for Mariga.

The Jubilee candidate will be facing 23 others vying for the Kibra MP seat.
