Ruto remarks about NASA meetings baseless and reckless: Chebukati
The electoral commission chairman Wafula Chebukati has dismissed remarks made by the Deputy President William Ruto that he has been holding night meetings with the opposition as ‘baseless and reckless.’
The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission took to twitter hours after the DP Ruto made the remarks during an interview on Citizen TV on Sunday night.
“Rumors regarding my so-called night meetings with NASA are baseless and reckless,” read Chebukati’s tweet.
During an interview with Citizen TV show Game Plan 2017 on Sunday, DP Ruto warned the electoral boss Chebukati against openly displaying rift within the Commission, insisting that he cannot lay blame on specific staff members over the nullified August 8 presidential election and failing to take responsility.
“There are night meetings between Chebukati and our competitors, NASA, because if the memo purporting to come from him is anything to go by, the grievances in it are the same issues raised by NASA and these prove it all,” said Ruto in the interview.
Although he failed to acknowledge if there are proofs for the allegations, Ruto dared the electoral commission boss to come out and deny if indeed there are no night meetings.
