Ruto, Sang fixing debate will polarize Kenya – Musalia Mudavadi

Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader Musalia Mudavadi has warned that the ongoing debate on who fixed Deputy President William Ruto and Joshua Sang at The Hague between Jubilee and the Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD) is treacherous to the country.

Speaking during a fund raising for the Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Kongwea, Mombasa on Sunday, Mudavadi said that the controversial debate on who fixed who need to be stopped as it is gradually polarizing the country along tribal lines and might plunge the country into chaos.

He further said that the political sentiments on who fixed who have already divided political leaders and instead of discussing key issues facing the country they were now busy exchanging words on the ICC matter.

Mudavadi had played a role in 2007 -2008 mediation team that was headed by former United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan, who urged leaders to desist from politicking such serious matter and instead follow the right channel.

On the other hand, Lungari Member of Parliament Ayub Savula, who was attending same function, diminished the ongoing ICC prayer rallies and insisted that need to be stopped claiming that the move was only creating hatred among Kenyans.

He further alleged that politicians had hijacked the rallies and were only using the platform to settle political differences.

He stated that the country had more important issues to fix and called on Kenyans to stop as it was only bringing about hatred and political rivalry.

Recalling the intense negations that ended the 2007-2008 post-election violence, Mudavadi, who is a former Deputy Prime Minister in the Grand Coalition government, said that anyone who knew the effect of violence should never attempt to incite Kenyans into violence.

Mudavadi demanded that CORD and Jubilee show political maturity and desist from engaging in talks that divide rather than unite Kenyans.
