Ruto tells politicians to keep off church donations debate

Deputy President William Ruto has said leaders should work as a team and forget divisive politics.

Speaking at Nyamira Catholic Parish on Friday, the DP said he is touring every part of the country with ‘permission from his boss’.

“We will serve all Kenyans irrespective of how they voted during the last general election,” he said.

On church donations, the DP urged politicians to keep off such issues, saying they are not well versed with the Bible and the work of Christians.

‘I am not ashamed of standing with the church. I am a Christian,” said Dr Ruto.

Runyenjes MP Eric Muchangi said those opposed to church donations were not keen to serve the Lord or help spread his word.

“I have done some research and found out that those opposed to church donations never go to churches,” said Mr Muchangi.

Nyamira Women Representative said leaders who opposed donations to the church were not from a Christian upbringing.

“It is because the Deputy President is a Christian and understands why he supports the Church and God will continue to bless him,” said Ms Momanyi.

Other leaders present were MPs Vincent Kemosi (West Mugirango ), Silvanus Osoro (South Mugirango), Ben Momanyi (Borabu), Joash Nyamoko (North Mugirango), Jerusha Momanyi (Women Rep Nyamira), Mugambi Murwithania (Buuri), Innocent Obiri (Bobasi), Alpha Miruka (Bomachoge Chache and Shadrack Mose (Kitutu Masaba).
