Ruto vs Ruto: Suspension of Bomet MCAs Causes Political Rift in South Rift

Deputy President William Ruto, who is also the party leader, is in Elgeyo Marakwet while the other faction led by Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto and Baringo Senator Gideon Moi of KANU is in Narok.

Both camps are expected to address the recent controversial expulsion of nine nominated Bomet Members of County Assembly allied to Governor Ruto.

The Ruto versus Ruto political rift keeps widening by the day with the battle for the Rift Valley voting bloc gaining momentum.

The decision by URP to expel the nine MCAs after they were accused of failing to play by the party’s rules has now seen Governor Ruto maintain his stand that he will not bow to pressure.

“I know they are looking for me, they want to impeach me, but I don’t care. Let them try. I cannot and will not be intimidated,” said the Bomet Governor.

The realignments in the Rift Valley that have brought together Governor Ruto, Senator Moi and KANU Secretary General Nick Salat on one side, could spell an onslaught against the Deputy President for control of South Rift, even as the 2017 General Elections fast approaches.
