Sack Nakuru County boss over Solai victims payout, Matiang’i told

By Enock Sickolia and Francis Gachuri

The Senate committee probing the Solai Dam tragedy has urged CS Fred Matiang’i to suspend Nakuru County Commissioner Joshua Nkanatha for ‘complicity.’

Chairman Mutula Kilonzo Jnr questioned why the commissioner and his officers are leading the payout of victims on behalf of the dam owner yet they are the ones probing the matter.

According to the Senator, the action casts doubts over the sincerity of the government case against the Solai dam owner Perry Mansukh.

The Senate committee also rubbished the owner’s offer a Ksh.100,000 indemnity to victims. This after reports emerged that the victims were coerced to sign compensation forms.

The committee further warned that if forced, it will move to court to ensure victims and survivors of the Solai Dam tragedy are adequately compensated.
