Sack traitors MP tell President Kenyatta

President Uhuru Kenyatta has been challenged to sack anyone alleged to be behind the controversy surrounding misappropriation of funds at the Devolution and Planning Ministry.

Addressing a presser in a Mombasa on Sunday, Gichugu Member of Parliament Njogu Barua said, “Some Parliamentary committee members given mandate to conduct public affairs are going round discussing confidential information before presenting it to the House.”

Barua claimed that some infiltrators within Kenyatta’s government were colluding with the opposition Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD) to discredit his government in the country.

The MP further urged the President to take action on the matter since those conspiring with the opposition party aim to tarnish the government’s reputation.

He also cautioned that should the President takes this matter lightly, the opposition whose aim is to take power, would now use the controversy to damage government’s reputation in the country.

Barua was speaking in amid mounting pressure on Devolution and Planning CS Anne Waiguru to step aside and allow investigations into the alleged siphoning of millions of shillings in her Ministry.

A section of the Jubilee Members of Parliament led by their Chuka-Igambang’ombe counterpart Muthomi Njuki want Waiguru to step aside or President Uhuru Kenyatta to sack her.

Mr Njuki said they will now join their opposition CORD to pile pressure on the President to sack Ms Waiguru.

He said it was unfortunate that millions of shillings continue being misappropriated yet no action is being taken on those alleged to have orchestrated the theft of public funds.

Previously Nandi Hills MP Alfred Keter had called for the disbandment of the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) for its apparent failure to execute its mandate.

Keter accuses the EACC of complacency in investigating corruption cases while claiming that the commission had engaged in bribery to silence legislators from speaking against its inefficiency.

The MP faulted the commission for forwarding its findings on the allegations of corruption at the National Youth Service (NYS) to Waiguru instead of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

Keter called on MPs to move with speed in disbanding the commission in order to strengthen the fight against corruption in the country.
