Sacked farm-worker murders employers son

A 18-year-old man was brutally beheaded Monday morning at his parents’ home in Ichagaki village, Murang’a County.

According to the deceased’s uncle, Samuel Mburu, the young man’s body was discovered by his parents who had gone to his room to wake him up at 6am.

The family suspects that the deceased was killed by their 48-year-old identified as Peter Kariuki who spent Sunday night with the deceased only to disappear that fateful morning.

The suspect was employed as a farm worker by the family, last year but later on sacked.

“When Kariuki came to visit, he was carrying an axe in a sack, saying he was from working in a farm in the neighborhood,” explained Mburu.

“I heard his parents screaming at 6am and was shocked to find my nephew’s lifeless body lying in his bed.”

The suspect was later arrested at his aunt’s place where he fled to after allegedly committing the heinous act.

According to an eye witnesses, the suspect had blood spots on his body and was found in possession of a bloody axe that is suspected to have been used to carry out the murder.

Murang’a Deputy County Commissioner, Anthony Kirui, said the suspect is being held at Maragua Police Station as police carry out further investigations.

He said police also recovered a blood stained panga that had been left under the deceased’s bed.
