Sacked KDF soldier arrested, charged with impersonation

A former Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) officer who was sacked from the military last year was on Monday arraigned in a Lamu court on charges of impersonation.

The court was told that Hassan Ali Wario, 36, went to Kiunga Police Station on Saturday and identified himself as a a Kenya Navy officer, seeking for some information.

Officers on duty detained him and upon further investigations, it was discovered he had been fired from the military but was still in possession of a KDF identification card, which he was supposed to have surrendered.

The accused was immediately arrested pending arraignment.

Appearing before Magistrate Victor Asiyo, the accused denied the charges and was released on a Ksh.200,000 cash bail.

The case continues next month.
