Safaricom sued over ‘Okoa Stima’

An IT firm known as Colour Planet has sued telecommunications giant Safaricom over the trademark to ‘Okoa Stima’.

Colour Planet claims to have trademarked the name “Okoa Stima” in May 2015 thus owning it on Wednesday, July 8th, 2015.

An employee from Colour Planet Company Anthony Chege Wanaruah alleges that the company had been working on the software since 2012.

Wanaruah further claimed that the company met with Kenya Power and that Kenya Commercial Bank had agreed to implement the initiative.

A hearing for the case has been scheduled for Thursday, July 23th, 2015
