Sailors Arrive Home After A Troubled 18Months

The sailors were in a luxurious vessel which ferried tourists and has been stuck in Zanzibar for 18 months.

The vessel was then auctioned and bought by a Mauritius Businessman at a cost of 96,000 US dollars.

The order to auction the vessel came after sailors moved to a Zanzibar court demanding for their one year salary arrears amounting to Ksh over 55,000 US dollars .

It is alleged that the owner of the vessel who is an Italian businessman went missing after his crew members got rescued after the incident.

Speaking to Journalists immediately after the vessel docked in Mtwapa, Kilifi county, the crew members led by Joram Munda alleged they went through difficulties to an extent  one of their colleague breaking his leg.

The four crew members among them a Tanzanian citizen were received by East Africa seafarer’s assistance program coordinator Mr Andrew Mwangura.
