Sakaja denies claims he has stepped down from Nairobi governor bid

Nairobi gubernatorial aspirant Johnson Sakaja has refuted claims that he is stepping down of the race saying he is still vying for the seat in the August General Election.

Speaking at his home in Nairobi, Sakaja said he has not made a deal with any of the other Jubilee aspirants as claimed by a section of the media.

The Nominated MP, who is teaming up with Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko in one camp, urged the other camp led by Peter Kenneth and Maina Kamanda to work with them to unseat Governor Evans Kidero in the August polls.

Sakaja also lashed out at former TNA Secretary General Onyango Oloo for spreading false information alleging that the 2013 General Election was rigged in favour of Uhuru Kenyatta, adding that the president does not owe him anything after TNA was dissolved.

Speaking on Saturday in Gem, former TNA Secretary General Onyango Oloo said he would not be frightened by anybody following his move to decamp to the opposition party ODM.

Mr Oloo said Jubilee Party members are currently trying to scare him with empty threats over his move, but reiterated that he will not be cowed because he “took the right direction”.

The former TNA Secretary General, who maintained that he has come to ODM with a lot of secrets from President Uhuru’s Jubilee Party, added that he decided to cross over after realizing that the Jubilee Party is going to lose the General Election.

Mr Oloo, who was speaking at a funeral in Gem constituency, stated that this is the best chance that CORD leader Raila Odinga has to clinch the top leadership of this country.
