Salat hits out at Duale over 2022 presidency remarks

KANU Party Secretary General Nick Salat has lashed out at National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale for reportedly attacking Baringo Senator Gideon Moi over the 2022 presidential contest.

Speaking in Kapchepkor Village, Baringo North during the burial of politician Yano Singei, Salat warned Duale over his recent remarks where he is understood to have told Moi that the presidency was not hereditary.

“Our friend Duale should know that there is no where KANU and Jubilee are colliding. In 2022 Jubilee have their own candidate and we have our own in KANU and it is the voters who will decide. Now he (Duale) is mentioning names saying this person is someone’s son… I wonder whom did he want to be the father,” said Salat.

Duale made the contentious remarks on Sunday in Kasha, Balambala constituency, during the homecoming of Garissa County Executive Member in charge of Agriculture and Livestock, Issa Yarow.

“William Ruto’s father was a peasant and in the next elections it is not who your father is but what you have done to Kenyans [that will count],” said Duale.

On his part, Gideon Moi, who was also present during the event, urged leaders to stop propagating lies and propaganda against him.

The vocal Jubilee point man’s remarks were perceived to be directed to KANU party Chairman Gideon Moi who is retired president Daniel Moi’s son.

Gideon is said to be gunning up to challenge Deputy President William Ruto in the 2022 presidential contests.
