Samburu group ranches get title deeds after 44-year wait

The Ministry of Lands has issued group ranches in Samburu with title deeds after 44 years of waiting.

The first group ranches in the Samburu region to receive tittle deeds are; Noontoto area group l, Tinga B and Lowaoiting group ranches.

Speaking to Citizen Digital, Samburu County Governor Moses Lenolkulal said the move would go a long way in solving cross boundary conflicts.

The governor promised to focus on uplifting the economic status of communities in Samburu by securing ownership of land.

Samburu County’s CEC for lands Senei Leseeto said his department would avail the title deeds to the group ranches.

Meanwhile, Igembe Central legislator Kubai Kiringo has alleged that some land committee members in the county are frustrating the process of demarcating land for personal gain.

Speaking at Kangeta headquarters on Monday, Kiringi said the process of demarcating land has been hectic since the land officers demarcate the land on the ground but change the details on paper.

He urged appointed land board members to work diligently with the locals to ensure they get title deeds.
