Samburu leaders call for armoured vehicles to beef up security
Leaders in Samburu County have called upon the National Government to return the Armored Personnel Carriers (APCs) vehicles that were previously being used by the police to enhance safety within the region.
Led by Samburu West Member of Parliament (MP), Naisula Lesuuda, the leaders said that the volatile North Rift region which has been affected by massive banditry attacks, experienced peace stability until when the vehicles were re-deployed to Baringo and Lamu Counties.
This appeal comes barely two days after four people were killed and nine others injured when suspected cattle raiders attacked a village in Sigira area.
The latest incident brings the number of people who have been killed in the area to seven since August when suspected cattle raiders attacked Kambi Nyoka area in Samburu North.
