Sapit urges IEBC to eliminate doubt ahead of polls

ACK Archbishop Jackson Ole Sapit has urged the Independent and Election Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to ensure it eliminates any suspicion or doubt that may lead to anxiety among Kenyans as the country nears the August General Election.

Ole Sapit said IEBC has the mandate to ensure that Kenya remains peaceful during this election year and should work hard to root out any misleading information that may lead to tension and anxiety.

He called on the elections body to relay reliable and accurate information that will not raise eyebrows from all parties during this period and challenged politicians to refrain from making pronouncements, accusations and propaganda that could cause disunity or raise tension.

The archbishop at the same time condemned the heckling and booing of politicians that has been witnessed in the country terming it inappropriate, adding that any leader has the constitutional right to campaign anywhere in the county.

He further advised the electorate to keep off from rallies instead of disrupting them.

The member of clergy was speaking when he visited ACK Church Ndagani in Chuka Town for an evangelical tour.

Ole Sapit also affirmed that the Church is ready to mediate between the government and striking doctors to find a lasting solution in order to save lives.
