Scare as Skywards Express plane with 50 on board makes emergency landing

A Skywards Express plane with 50 passengers was on Saturday forced to make an emergency landing after it reportedly developed mechanical problems.

Passengers who were on the flight say their Mombasa-bound flight had been delayed for an hour prior to the incident.

The plane developed problems shortly aftter taking off from Lamu’s Manda airport, forcing the pilot to turn back.

“Around 11am today we were on air when we heard strange noises coming from the engine, we also saw alot of smoke on the right side, everyone was very scared” a passenger said.

Fortunately, the plane landed back at the airport and the passengers on board were evacuated to safety.

Footage believed to be from the incident shows a fire truck approaching the plane after the incident.

No one was injured in the early Saturday scare although passengers who were on the flight were sceptical about boarding another flight.
