School Principal Shot Dead In Nyeri
The deceased, identified as Joseph Gikoyo, is a principal at Kibutio Mixed Day Secondary School in Mukurwe-Ini.
The principal had just packed his vehicle and had moved back to lock the gate when he was confronted by an armed gang.
The assailants are said to have fired at him killing him on the spot.
The assailants later escaped firing shots in the air to scare away residents who were already trooping to the scene.
The senior teacher was residing in Mumbi, an estate in the suburbs of Nyeri that is associated with the rich and which experiences few cases of insecurity.
Confirming the incidence, Nyeri Central OCPD Charles Rotich termed the incidence as an isolated one but suspected that it could have been more than a normal robbery since the assailants did not take anything from the deceased.
Police now say they are carrying out investigations into the killing and have already established leads that will help them in arresting the suspects.
