Scolari Takes The Blame For Humiliation Of Brazil

"I made the choices so I was responsible. We ask for forgiveness for the result. We thank the fans for their support even during this defeat." said Scolari.

He spoke even as Brazilians went on the rampage over the semi-final result

“I am sorry that we were not able to get to the final and we will continue to honour what our team is and fight for third place.” He added.

When Brazil paraded themselve singing national anthem with their hands on each other's shoulders and David Luiz holding a Neymar shirt, no one knew the result would be such sour.

The match was somehow over in the first half as ruthless Germany hit 5 goals before half hour mark with 4 coming within a six minute spell.

André Schürrle and Toni Kroos each scored two goals with Klose, Khedira and Thomas Muller also registering their names on the score sheet.

This was Brazil's heaviest international loss since 1920 when they played against Uruguay in Copa America.

Shell-shocked fans were seen in tears as their team's dreams of winning the competition were shattered.

Some were pictured leaving their seats as Germany side, branded 'well-oiled machine' tore apart their defence to shreds.

Germany’s coach Joachim Low sympathised with Scolari but hoped his side will pick up.

“I can understand what Scolari is going through. It is a bit like in 2006, when Italy beat us in the semi finals. The whole country wants you to make it to the final. I feel sorry for him.”

Low was happy for his team’s focus throughtout the match saying his plans worked perfectly.

“We knew that if we are quick on the counters, and go straight into attack after winning balls they will be disorganised. We played well in the first half.” said Low.

Germany will meet winners of Wednesday’s semi final between Argentina and Netherlands in the finals on Sunday.

Following the defeat, a number of Brazilians turned violent protesting against the huge amount of money spent on the tournament.
