Scramble for beer as truck overturns in Kirinyaga

It was still Christmas for alcohol lovers in Kagio town, Kirinyaga County who had a field day after a truck ferrying alcoholic drinks overturned less than a kilometre to its destination.

The accident that occurred at 4pm on Wednesday triggered a vicious scramble and those who were strong enough managed to sample the different brands from the loot.

It was an equal fight between men and women in the scramble and winners sang and danced in celebration.

Police who arrived moments later found empty beer crates and beer bottles on the road.

The driver and his assistant escaped unhurt.
