Security beefed up as Kenyans approach festive season
Police Inspector General Joseph Boinnet Monday announced heightened security measures across the country as the end year festivities begin.
Issuing a statement through Police Spokesman George Kinoti, the police boss has called on members of the public to remain vigilant, warning that the threat of terror remains a reality –especially in highly populated places.
Boinnet has also urged members of the public to cooperate with police to avert security threats during this holiday period.
Police have also warned motorists plying Kenyan roads during this festive period to avoid recklessness, speeding, overloading and drunk driving.
He went further to state that the police force has partnered with the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) to arrest traffic offenders during the holiday season.
In counties prone to cattle rustling, police have warned of stern action against perpetrators.
Bionnet called on the public to report any suspicious activity to a toll free number of 999 or 911 or 112 for immediate police response.
