Security Top of IEBC’s Agenda in Kabete Mini Polls

The police officers are spread equally across all the 33 polling stations in the five wards.

The tallying centre, Wangige Primary School, however, enjoys a huge security presence with 20 officers stationed there.

A spot check by Citizen Television shows police officers manning the polling stations while others patrol the constituency to ensure law and order is maintained during the voting process.

On Sunday, IEBC’s commissioner Yusuf Nzibo said that the police officers will deal with any cases of insecurity, voter intimidation or any other illegal activities that might be experienced.

Mr. Nzibo commended the Kabete electorate and candidates for conducting peaceful campaigns.

He called on them to maintain order and observe peace as they go to the elections.

So far, no cases of indiscipline have been reported.

The Kabete parliamentary seat fell vacant following the brutal murder of area MP George Muchai by unknown assailants along Nairobi’s Kenyatta Avenue.
