Senate Committee to table report on electoral laws

The Senate Justice and Legal Affairs Committee (JLAC) has up to 2:00pm, Thursday, January 5 to table a report on the floor of the House after a week of public hearing on the proposed amendments to the Election Laws (Amendment) Act, 2015.

Senate Speaker, Ekwee Ethuro, gave the Amos Wako-led team an hour to put together the report and table it in the Senate for discussion.

JLAC is said to be holed up in a meeting to finalize on the report.

Speaker Ethuro last week directed the committee to hold public hearings following an outcry by members of the opposition and the public accusing the Jubilee administration of reinstating manual voter identification and transmission of election results in cases where technology fails.
