Senate Speaker Ekwe Ethuro calls for calm in Turkana following Uhuru-Nanok exchange

Senate Speaker Ekwe Ethuro is now calling for calm among members of the Turkana community after a recent spat between their governor Josphat Nanok and President Uhuru Kenyatta.

A seemingly angry President Kenyatta on Friday openly engaged in a war of words with the governor after a disagreement concerning his regime’s handling of the lucrative oil industry in the region during a tour of the county.

According to Speaker Ethuro, this has raised tension and animosity between Jubilee supporters and their counterparts who pledge allegiance to the opposition coalition the National Super Alliance (NASA).

The speaker, who was speaking during the launch of Namoruputh Health Center in Loima Sub-county, called upon residents to avoid leaders who ‘sell’ their political agendas using false propaganda.

“We have to be cautious both as leaders and wananchi so that we conduct our campaigns and elections peacefully,” said the speaker.

On his part, Loima Lawmaker Protus Akuja criticised the mysterious killings of two people in Loima a fortnight ago, attributing the act to political tensions.
