Senator Lesuuda Endorses Donate A Book Kenya Initiative

Senator Lesuuda termed the initiative as a key step to promoting literacy in the country saying that she endorses the idea and will join the course to help realize the Kenyan dream.

Speaking to Donate A Book Kenya Team Leader, Senator Lesuuda – who comes from one of the marginalized communities in the country, said that she seconds the idea as it supports the call for making learning materials accessible to all despite their background.

“This is one of the initiatives that everybody will want to be associated with. It is a noble idea that will help the country in achieving greater heights of literacy,” said Senator Lesuuda.

“The country is in need of books and am sure many people have a reason to join this course and help the initiative move forward.”

Senator Lesuuda and the Naisula Lesuuda Peace Foundation (NLPF) have been in the fore-front in championing for quality education that is accessible to all especially the disadvantaged girl-child in the marginalized areas.

The endorsement by the Senator comes at a time when the country is in dire need of approximately 1.5 million books, 60,000 teachers, learning and teaching aid across the country.

Kenya continues experiencing high illiteracy rates despite the government making both Primary and Secondary Education free and compulsory.
