Senator Ongoro ditches Railas ODM citing frustration

Nominated Senator, Elizabeth Masha Ongoro, has ditched the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party for Musalia Mudavadi’s Amani National Congress (ANC) citing frustration in her quest to capture Ruaraka parliamentary seat.

Ongoro accused influential figures in the Raila Odinga-led party for allegedly colluding with the incumbent MP, TJ Kajwang’, to lock her out of the nominations.

“I have decamped from ODM because of some things that I felt was unfairness, mistreatment and because of some few people who feel that they can control the destiny of someone,” said Ongoro.

She said that the people of Kenya retain power to elect leaders of their choice without undue influence.

She insisted that she was taking up her democratic and constitutional right to pursue her political career adding that women in Kenya have been taken for ‘granted for far too long’ by political mercenaries.

Ongoro defended her move as a safety precaution to escape being knocked out of the August 8 polls with only nine days remaining to the closure of the nomination exercise.

“We could want corrupt people who bring confusion in the nomination exercise,” she said

She, however, reiterated her supporter for the opposition National Super Alliance (NASA) expressing confidence that the coalition will produce the next President.
