Senator Orengo: Ruto’s office has brought dishonour and disrespect to the presidency

Siaya Senator James Orengo has called for the establishment of a constitutional mechanism to deal with any office that dishonours and disrespects the presidency.

According to Senator Orengo, the President’s office needs to be respected since the President is the head of government and protector of constitutionalism and the values entrenched in the constitution.

Orengo lamented that the office of the Deputy President has shown total dishonour and disrespect to the presidency which it is part of, hence the need for establishment of a law to deal with it.

“Without fear of contradiction, the office of the deputy president has brought shame to the presidency, and there ought to be a mechanism to deal with it,” he said

Speaking during the burial of the University of Nairobi lecturer Prof. Gilbert Ogutu at Wambasa village in Bondo constituency, Senator Orengo said that anybody who can use the office of the Deputy President to insult the president need not to be spared.

He stated that it is regrettable that in the short space where Kenya is undergoing an important constitutional process, the Deputy President had gathered the guts to insult the people including the President.

At the same time, the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) Member Dr. Oburu Oginga who was also present called for through investigation into the fake arms deal that was allegedly executed at the Deputy President’s office.

Oburu said the illegal firearm scam seemed to have been more than just a mere fraud but an attempt in trying to illegally bring an arsenal of arms into the country.

On Saturday, DP Ruto distanced his office from the Ksg.39B military equipment scam saying his office has no connection with the department of defense (DOD).

Ruto who was attending the funeral of the late Kipyegon Kenei faulted the DCI for waging a politcal war and asked the agency to instead, bring the killers to book.
