Senator Sonko chaos at funeral

Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko on Friday, October 14, disrupted a funeral service at Kinanie, Machakos County, shouting that he was the acting president of Kenya.

Taking to the podium at the funeral of Dolamu Oduwole, husband to Machakos governor hopeful Wavinya Ndeti, Sonko said: “Rais Uhuru is in Togo, DP William Ruto ako France I am number three in command politically and socially. I am now the acting president of the republic of Kenya.”

“All these police officers and vehicles you see are here because I am now the acting President.”

When the master of ceremony saw that the senator was increasingly becoming uncontrollable in his speech, the latter was asked to wind up – and that marked the beginning of drama.

A seemingly worked up Sonko then walked toward the MC and tried to throw a punch, warning him not to switch off his microphone.

“You can’t do that to me. When Raila was talking no one disrupted him,” he said

“Hapana shika mimi…Taka taka gasia nyinyi. Wasituletee. Kwendeni kabisa huko. (Loosely translated: ‘do not touch me, you are garbage, don’t dare us, get out of here. Get out’.)”

After a while, Sonko was asked to read President Uhuru Kenyatta’s speech, but mourners, who had been taken aback by his actions, would not let him.

“Unadhani hapa ni Jubilee? Kwenda huko!” sections of mourners were heard shouting, with others leaving the arena.

Sonko’s behavior compelled Cord leader Raila Odinga, who was present during the service, to leave.

Earlier on, Mr Odinga who spoke to the crowd assured them that there would not be politics in the funeral.
