Senator Sonko Weeps In Court Over Sinai Fire Case

This is a case in which survivors and relatives of those who perished in the September 2011 Sinai slum fire are suing the state to demand 25 billion shillings in compensation.

The adjournment came after the respondents said that they had not been served with the witnesses' statements which meant that the case could not proceed.

Today, Wednesday is slightly over two years since the fire in the Sinai slum in Nairobi County claimed 128 lives and left many others badly burnt and scarred.

Survivors of the tragedy have since returned to the slum arguing that they had nowhere else to go to.

The fire was caused by an oil spill from the Kenya Pipeline that runs through Industrial Area

The victims included children, women and men who were either preparing to go to work or had returned home from night duty
