Senior Principal resigns to contest for political office

The County Government of Murang’a staff members and teachers from the county continue to tender their resignation letters as they prepare to run for elective posts in the August 8 General Election.

The law demands that government workers who intend to seek elective seats must quit their positions before launching their campaigns.

The latest civil servant to resign, a Mr Peter Njangi, worked as a teacher for 34 years, 24 of which he served as a Principal in various schools across the country.

Njangi officially handed over the administration of Mutige Boys’ Secondary School where he has served as a Principal for four years.

Mr Njangi is eyeing the Murang’a senatorial seat in the forthcoming polls.

The seat has so far attracted four aspirants who include the sitting Senator, Kembi Gitura, Peter Njagi, Kiharu MP Irungu Kang’ata and Murang’a County Health Chief Officer, Joseph Mbai – who is yet to resign.

The four will face off in the Jubilee primaries.
