Seven Congolese nationals found in 1-room house in Maralal arraigned
- Seven citizens from congo were today arraigned in Maralal court charged with being in the country illegally.
- The seven men were arrested on 14th March in a house they rented at Allamano in Maralal town.
- The suspicious residents alerted the nyumba kumi members about the strange men who had rented the one room house.
Seven Congolese nationals were on Friday arraigned before a Maralal court and charged with being in the country illegally.
The seven men were arrested on March 14, 2019 at a one-roomed house they had rented in Allamano area.
Suspicious residents alerted the Nyumba Kumi members about the ‘strange’ men.
In their defence, the accused said they were refugees and presented papers allegedly issued by the United Nations (UN).
Maralal Senior Resident Magistrate Abraham Gachie directed the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) to verify the documents.
The magistrate further directed that the accused to be remanded at Maralal Police Station until Tuesday, March 19, 2019 when the documents will have been verified
