Seven employees of Murugu clinic charged with illegal sale of drugs

Seven employees of Murugu Natural and Nutritional clinic were Tuesday arraigned in a Nairobi Court over manufacture of medicinal drugs without a government license.

Appearing before Magistrate Zainab Abdul; the accused; Catherine Nduta, Diana Wanjiku, Lucy Njeri, Saida Mariam Zakaria, Henry Mukhwana, Samuel Kamau and Francis Maina were charged with manufacturing of medicinal substances without a license from the pharmacy and poisons board.

They were also charged with sale of unregistered drugs contrary to the law and supply of poisons when the container is not labelled in the prescribed manner.

They pleaded not guilty and were released on a cash bail of Ksh.200,000 or Ksh.500,000 bond each.

The case was set for hearing on July 16, 2019.

The seven were arrested on Monday at Murugu Natural and Nutritional Clinic along Moi Avenue in Nairobi in possession of unregistered drugs.
