Seven hospitalised after armed gang attacks Kakamega village

Seven people are nursing injuries at Kakamega General Hospital after they were attacked by a machete-wielding gang in Shamoni village, Malava Constituency.

The victims sustained several cut wounds from the gang that is reported to have also robbed a nearby shop and made away with an unknown amount of money.

According to the seven, the gang composed of over 10 people attacked the village in the middle of the night before  fleeing in the early hours of the morning.

The victims blamed police for the insecurity in the area, accusing them of laxity.

According to a medical officer at the Kakamega General Hospital, Dr. Kennedy Masika, only one of the seven victims is in serious condition.

“We have managed to stabilize them and they are all out of danger,” said Dr. Masika.

“But there is one patient who, after doing a CT scan, appears to have a fracture on the skull. We have admitted that patient for further observation.”
