Seven hospitalized in Homa Bay after ‘police’ confrontation

Reports reaching the Citizen Digital indicate that seven people have been seriously injured in Homa Bay town after an alleged confrontation with anti-riot police.

The seven, who are hospitalized at the Homa Bay County Referral Hospital, are believed to be brought from Sindo town and Suba South Sub-county after allegedly being shot by police.

Confirming the incidence, the hospital CEO Dr. Meshack Liru said that they are currently facing difficulties attending to the victims, owing to the ongoing nation-wide nurses’ strike and the fact that most of the staff is unable to access the facility because of NASA supporters who have barricaded roads in the area.

“We have received victims of election violence seven of them as at the moment and two of them seriously injured such that they will require surgery. One has multiple rib fractures and limb fractures. There are two who are still assessed one with gunshot wounds in lower limbs and the others have minor injuries,” said Dr. Liru.

One of the victims who spoke to the Citizen Digital, Nick Odwar, claimed that police attacked him while he was on his way home.
