Seven suspected gangsters were on Friday morning gunned down by police in Kitusuru area in Nairobi following a botched robbery.

According to Nairobi county commander Joseph Ole Tito, the seven were intercepted while planning to ambush a construction firm manager who was going to pay his workers at the site.

Police were tipped off and thwarted the plan.

Ole Tito further told Citizen Digital that a fire exchange ensued between the police and the gangsters after the suspects declined to surrender.

Several crude weapons were also recovered in the 8:15am incident.

Investigations into the incident are currently underway.
