Several City roads to be closed for seven days

Police have announced that some roads in Nairobi will be closed from July 17th at 6am to July 23rd as a result of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) that will be held at the Kenyatta International Convention Center (KICC).

In a statement, police said motorists headed to and out of the City Center and intending to use Parliament Road, Harambee Avenue, Taifa Road and City Hall way are advised to use Haile Selassie Avenue, Kenyatta Avenue and University Way to access their destinations.

Parliament Road, Harambee Avenue and Taifa Road will be closed completely during the entire period.

City Hall way will also be closed from July 17th to July 22nd. Other roads that will remain closed are Wabera Street, Standard Street and Mama Ngina Street.

“Heavy commercial vehicles, trailers and articulated vehicles bound for Rift Valley region are advised that they will be diverted at Mombasa Road Southern Bypass. All motorists are advised to follow directions given by traffic police in the vicinity,” read the statement in part.
