Several injured after building collapses in Nakuru

Several people were injured after a four-storey commercial building collapsed in Nakuru Town on Sunday evening.

The building situated along Mburu Gichua road in the town’s central business district had been earmarked for demolition but was still hosting several business enterprises.

No fatalities were reported from the incident.

Four people were safely evacuated by rescue teams from the Kenya Red Cross Society, St John Ambulance and the county government which swiftly responded to the incident that occurred at around 5.30 pm.

Some of the injured were reportedly trying to move into the building to salvage their property when they were hit by falling debris.

Two lorries parked next to the building were also damaged by the collapsed building.

The four-storey building, which had visible cracks,  had been condemned and marked for demolition by the National Construction Authority.
