Several people injured, others feared trapped after a bridge collapsed in Kangemi

Four people have been rescued after part of the new Kangemi flyover under construction collapsed on them on Monday evening.

Two who sustained injuries were rushed to hospital and are receiving medical attention.

Several others are feared trapped beneath the rubble, with Westlands Sub county boss Lilian Obura confirming that rescue efforts were underway.

The number of those feared trapped was not immediately established.

According to witnesses, the workers on the lower side of the flyover were buried in the sand after one of the pillars and a wall  collapsed.
