The former aide to Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko announced that she would now be backing Omari Boga who will be vying on an Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) ticket.

“Mimi ni msimamo wa kisiasa na nina muelekeo sana. Kwanza itambulike ya kuwa sijawahi kuwa mwanachama yeyote isipokuwa ODM. Yale yaliyofanyika waswahili husema usilolijua ni usiku wa giza na ni mambo mengine mimi siwezi kuzungumza. Yale mengine ilikuwa ni propaganda ata ile barua sikuiandika mimi,” she told journalists on Tuesday.

According to her, a meeting with her supporters concluded that the upcoming Msambweni elections should not lead to division hence the need to support Boga.

The seat was left vacant following the death of MP Suleiman Ramadhani Dori who succumbed to cancer in March this year.

The Jubilee Party will not be fielding a candidate in what they said was a decision made following “consultations within the party” and in the spirit of the handshake deal with ODM.

“With the unprecedented corporation between Jubilee and ODM in Parliament in the recent past on matters of national importance and given that this was an ODM seat, the decision has been made that Jubilee will not field a candidate in the interest of the bigger picture,” said Raphael Tuju, the Jubilee Secretary General.

He also cited the recent advisory by the Chief Justice that parliament should be dissolved as one of the serious matters that the country is facing and will require political harmony to navigate.
