Sharon Otieno murder case: 30 witnesses to testify against Governor Obado

The hearing of the case where Migori Governor Okoth Obado is charged with the murder of Rongo University student Sharon Otieno has been scheduled for December 2 and December 3 this year.

Thirty witnesses have been lined up to testify against Governor Obado who is charged alongside his personal assistant Michael Oyamo and Casper Obiero, a clerk in Migori County.

According to the prosecution, there are two protected witnesses.

Obado and his co-accused took plea in September last year where they denied killing Sharon and her seven-month unborn baby.

They denied the charges before judge Jessie Lesiit who released the Governor on a cash bail of Ksh.5 million and two sureties of Ksh.5 million each.

Mr. Obiero and Mr. Oyamo were initially denied bail but were later freed on a cash bail of Ksh.1 million each or an alternative bond of Ksh.2 million each.

26-year-old Sharon Otieno went missing on September 3 last year after a meeting with a Nation journalist in Migori.

She was found dead two days later near Kodera Forest in Homa Bay County.

The student, who Governor Obado later revealed had been in a relationship with him, was seven months pregnant at the time of her gruesome murder.

A  post-mortem conducted on Sharon’s body revealed she was stabbed eight times, strangled and raped.
