Sheila Masinde to take over from Samuel Kimeu at Transparency International-Kenya
Sheila Masinde is set to take over the the reins at Transparency International-Kenya after Samuel Kimeu resigned.
She will serve as acting Executive Director starting January next year with Mr. Kimeu proceeding for another assignment.
“Ms. Masinde has been part of TI-Kenya’s senior management team since 2015….as such, the Board has confidence that she has the experience to steer the organisation in the transition period,” Bernadette Musundi, the Chairperson for the Board of Directors, said in a statement.
Her predecessor Mr. Kimeu is an advocate of the High Court and led TI-Kenya for nine years.
The statement from indicates that he will continue to serve as a Board member for TI-International until the end of his term in November 2020.
Before joining TI-Kenya, Mr. Kimeu previously served as the Governance Specialist at the Embassy of Finland in Nairobi.
Ms. Masinde will serve in acting capacity until the Executive Director position is substantively filled.
On Wednesday, she was on Citizen TV’s Daybreak show for a discussion on Kenya’s war on corruption.
“Anti-corruption conference made lots of commitments but when do we as a country move from commitments to action? It is good to see corruption arrests but Kenyans want results & recovery of resources lost,” she said.

Ms. Masinde has 16 years of experience in governance and communication and previously worked with the Nation Media Group as an editor.
She joined TI-Kenya in 2009 as the Advocacy and Communications Manager and served in that position for three years.
In 2012, she was appointed as Training and Communications Manager for BBC Media Action.
However, in March 2014, she returned to TI-Kenya as the Research and Learning Manager and a year later, was appointed as Programmes Manager.
Transparency International was set up in Kenya 20 years ago with John Githongo as the Executive Director.
