Shock as body of murdered boy found in suitcase

Residents of Ruiru were on Wednesday shocked after the body of a boy who appeared to be 8 years old was found in a suitcase that was dumped at a plantation within Ruiru Primary School.

The body was discovered by school going children who informed a woman in a nearby flat, who later informed the police.

According to Ruiru OCPD Isaac Thuranira, police officers from the Ruiru Police Station secured the scene before forensic experts arrived to carry investigations.

The incident was mysterious, as police had no report of a missing boy in their Occurrence Book (OB).

Thuranira stated that investigations into the murder have begun.

A handwritten note was also found in the briefcase, with a police source saying that the boy could be from Nyeri.

The body of the boy was later wrapped in a duvet and taken to City Mortuary.

Elsewhere, two people died at Thunguma area in Nyeri County after a fire engine that was responding to an emergency crashed them during a funeral ceremony.

Seven other mourners were injured by the fire engine belonging to the Nyeri County Government.

According to Nyeri OCPD Charles Rotich, the fire engine was heading to contain a fire outbreak a few meters from the burial ceremony.

The injured mourners were taken to the Nyeri County Referral hospital.
