Shock as bomb found outside Kiambu church

Residents of Kiambu are still reeling in shock after a bomb was found outside a church early Sunday morning.

According to Kiambu OCPD Stephen Ng’etich who led a delegation of security experts at the scene, the bomb was found strategically placed behind the back wheel of a Toyota Platz vehicle outside Furaha Worship Centre Church.

Ng’etich said that preliminary analysis showed that the device could have potentially blown up three storey buildings had it not been detonated by experts from the bomb police unit, not withstanding the casualties considering that Furaha Worship Centre Church is usually flocked by over 1,000 worshippers and is adjacent to a busy supermarket.

The police boss added that investigations have been launched into the incident while contents of the explosive have been taken for a further forensic investigation.

Kiambu leaders, led by area MP Jude Njomo and Kiambaa’s Paul Koinange, called for an immediate installation of CCTV cameras saying if they were on site the suspects could have been easily identified.

This comes hours after 400 rounds of ammunition were nabbed at a bus station in Runyenjes disguised as cooking fat.
