Shock as cattle thieves eat grass in Turi

Residents of Kapsita, Mona and Kiambiriria Villages in Turi Division in the outskirts of Molo Town were treated to an interesting scene after two suspected cattle thieves started eating grass.

The suspects are said to have started feeding on the grass after sipping a witchdoctor’s concoction used for revealing notorious cattle thieves.

Hundreds of shocked residents gathered at the scene to witness the two middle-aged men eat grass, while demonstrating how they perform raids and make away with animals.

Residents said the act of involving a witchdoctor was the last resort, claiming that police officers in the area had failed to tame cattle theft.

EMPTY CATTLE SHEDS

Residents further narrated how cattle rustling has caused tension in the three villages, adding that several farmers have been left with empty cattle sheds.

The villagers are now welcoming the services of the witchdoctor and at the same time warning those involved in rustling of dire consequences if they fail to return the stolen cattle.

Turi Ward MCA Michael Wang’ombe decried increased cattle theft in the area, adding that dairy farmers were counting high losses.

Wang’ombe added that it was painful for residents to live in fear of being attacked and called on Molo Deputy County Commissioner Judith Cheruiyot to beef up security and intensify patrol in Turi to ease the tension.

The suspects are currently being held at the Molo Police Station.
