Shock as woman found brutally murdered in her house

Residents of Gitugi Village in Othaya woke up to shock and disbelief Thursday morning after a 37-year-old woman was found brutally murdered inside her house.

Jane Matu, a mother of one, had been allegedly stabbed several times with a knife on her neck and on the head before she was left for dead.

Matu operated a bar business in the evening and during the day she sold vegetables at Gitugi shopping centre, a few metres from her house.

According to Naomi Mwangi, who operates a chemist at the same shopping centre, she spotted blood stains outside the door at Matu’s house and when she then went inside and saw Matu lying dead on her bed which was soaked in blood.

Ms Mwangi then called her neighbours who later alerted the police.

Dorothy Kihanda, a friend to Matu described her as a responsible and hardworking woman who was in good terms with everyone in the village and the shopping centre.

This comes two weeks after two women were found murdered in cold blood in their house in Samburu.
