Shocking tale of brother’s murder: Bungoma MP Wamunyinyi in mourning

A sombre mood has engulfed Buema village in Bungoma County after the brother to area MP Wafula Wamunyinyi was brutally murdered.

The deceased, Joseph Wamalwa Wekesa, is alleged to have been stabbed several times on the chest by his nephew.

30-year-old Nicholas Simiyu Wafula is reported to have stabbed his uncle using a kitchen knife following a disagreement.

According to Bungoma South OCS George Odongo, the two got into an argument during a meeting for preparations of the memorial for one of their deceased kin.

“They were preparing for a memorial anniversary for the Mathew Austin Wafula Wamunyinyi, which was to take place to at Buema Village, Tuuti Sub Location before a fight ensued,” said Odongo.

During the fight, Wekesa allegedly injured his nephew on the head and right hand thumb finger using a machete.

It was at that point that the 35-year-old Wafula rushed to the kitchen, grabbed a knife and followed the deceased to his house.

The suspect allegedly stabbed Wekesa several times on the chest.

He also reportedly killed two dogs and smashed window panes at the deceased’s house.

Wekesa succumbed to his injuries at around 5am while undergoing treatment at Bungoma West Hospital.

The body has since been transferred to Life Care Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.

The suspect is admitted to Dawameds Hospital and is in stable condition.
