Shoddy Jubilee projects to blame for loss of lives – Kingi
Kilifi Governor, Amason Kingi, has urged the national government to stop endangering lives of people by hastening development projects to beat the August 8 election deadline.
He said the rate at which the ruling Jubilee government is hastening projects is alarming and might cause future harm to users.
This follows the collapse of the Ksh 1.2 billion Sigiri Bridge in Budalangi on Monday, June 26.
Speaking during a meeting with opinion leaders at Kambe-Ribe, Kingi urged President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy, William Ruto, to allow the projects be constructed as per the standard rate required.
At the same time, Mr Kingi, who was accompanied by Rabai Member of Parliament, William Kamoti among other ODM party aspirants, accused President Kenyatta of bringing development projects during the last minute of his tenure.
Jubilee government has invested about Ksh 10 billion in different projects in Kilifi County and the President and his deputy are set to launch.
Some of the projects include the tarmacking of 110 kilometers Malindi-Sala Gate Road, Mariakani-Bamba, Ksh 4.2 billion Kakuyuni-Gongoni-Kilifi water projects, Ksh 5 billion expansion of Malindi International Airport among others.
